Pete Matthews. Thanks so much for joining the Carpool series with Soho.
You made it. Welcome!
Yeah, thanks for having me.
You guys have kind of hit the ground running in the Proptech space,
but I guess before that, 30 years in the real estate industry,
you would have seen quite a few transactions and get a good understanding about transactions.
So now you've set up something called Realtair.
So tell me a bit more. I'm intrigued.
Yeah. Well, thanks for the reminder of the 30 years, that makes me feel very, very old.
Yeah, so Realtair actually started when we had our own real estate business.
So we had three offices and we had centralised admin
and marketing and we had a team of agents who were operating in those three offices
and we had the same sort of pain points as what most businesses have got.
We couldn't find one, sort of, one single platform that could transact
a property from appraisal through to settlement.
Some great systems, you know, CRM systems, marketing platform, sales  systems, data providers, all those sorts of things.
So some great assets that are there. Just none of them really talk to each other.
So we try to solve that problem for ourselves and then we kind of went ‘Well, we’re onto something here.’
So we decided to write our own software.
And I guess within the transaction there's
so many parts, it’s what? 200 and something parts to a real estate transactions.
Yeah. I mean look everybody kind of does it slightly differently,
but, you know, within a very small margin, there's about 267 that we've documented.
Yeah, and that was a really interesting process
because once you actually document all those and then you look at it and you say,
’Well, what can we automate?’ Our second question was
’What we offshore?’ and then
’What had to be done in-house?’
And you kind of looked at that massive list of tasks
and it just goes
it scales down.
And so that's why we looked at what we could do
in terms of creating efficiencies in our own business.
And then when we found those efficiencies,
we thought we could share that with the rest of the industry.
